OUGD603: Bubble & Squeak Development

I started by mind mapping my ideas, I wanted to get all my ideas out on the page so I could then start to develop them.

I've had an idea in my head for a while of how I wanted the logo, so first I tried to see if I could make it digitally. My idea was to have the text very block and sharp, but then compliment it with a quirky illustration of a flag in a cup.

After failing to design the logo digitally I sketched out my ideas, before scanning them in to the computer.

I scanned the ideas in and coloured them digitally

I redesigned the flag to fit with the illustrative style of the cup

I also tried different fonts, I'm still deciding on which font to use.

After a small crit with some of my peers I decided to change the aesthetic from being illustrative  to more clean and professional.

After developing this idea I had another crit and soon realised the design was quite boring, and was starting to look more like a pub, so I decided to change the name to 'Bubble & Squeak', and changed the aesthetic completely.

I started to take a lot of inspiration from old wall murials on the side of old buildings and factories. I liked the idea of having the logo painted on the wall.

I wanted the logo to be 3d so I managed to create this effect using illustrator.

After designing a logo I was happy with and experimenting with colours I found red on white stood out the most. I used red as it is in the Great British flag, and the bar is based around a  traditional english cafe.

I applied the design to the business cards, trying out different ideas. I wanted the design to be bold and in your face.

I then designed the menu. I found a lot of modern menus are just on a3 pieces of card, so i took that idea and applied it to my branding.

I played around with the names of the sections on the menu and tried to make them quite playful, it made the menu less boring and added a bit of character.

I designed a selection of posters to be hung up on the walls in the breakfast bar.

I designed a letter head for the business side of the company.

I decided to design a house wine and a house ale to be sold at the bar. Again i kept the design bold and appealing.

I attempted to design some promo posters for the bar.
